Team Apex competed at the Region 3 Championship at the Ft. Worth Convention Center on April 27-29. The competition included 1,203 athletes from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Arkansas, and Nebraska.
Brooklin Housden, 14, of Aubrey won the Regional Championship on double mini, qualified for nationals in tumbling, and earned a spot on the Regional All Stars Team, a competitive event held at Nationals for Lv. 10 athletes only. Housden qualified for Nationals in trampoline and double mini at the State Competition held two weeks earlier.
Alisha Sieber, 9, of Pilot Point, was awarded 7th place for her tumbling routine. Jack Julian, 7, of Providence Village, won the Regional Championships on trampoline and double mini and the silver medal for tumbling. Journey Mack, 9, of Providence Village, earned the Regional Championship for trampoline, and Melody Rutherford, 9, of Tioga, was the silver medalist on double mini. Kylie Kirsten, 9, of Providence Village, won the bronze medal for tumbling.
Housden and Sieber, and two other Team Apex members, Brianne Young, 14, of Pilot Point, and Sierra Rodriguez, 9, of Allen, will be competing at the 2012 Trampoline & Tumbling Jr. Olympic Championships to be held in Long Beach, California, July 4-11.
